The St. Thomas Aquinas Bereavement Ministry was established to offer spiritual and emotional support to those in our community who are experiencing loss and grief after the death of a loved one.

This ministry offers support in the following ways:

  • Attend the wake and/or liturgical service
  • Send cards, make telephone calls
  • Offer prayers, be present
  • Provide information on grief and support groups.

In addition, this committee hosts an annual Mass of Remembrance each November. Check the newsletter and bulletin for details.

Calming the Chaos is a Grief Support Group
Held at the Burlington Senior Center, 587 East State Street, Burlington, WI (Hwy 11 and W). These sessions are led by Tammy Beardsley, Grief Specialist, on Fridays, 9 to 10:30 AM. Tammy has a Master’s degree in social work. She has years of experience as a social worker for Aurora Hospice and is now a Grief Support Specialist. Tammy’s goal is to assist people dealing with the loss of a loved one by providing resources and emotional support as they work through their grief to find a new normal in their life. Loss of any kind is difficult, but the most important thing to remember is you are not alone and there is no timeframe for your grief.

Join Us for Coffee and Connection!
We understand that navigating life after losing a loved one can be challenging, and sometimes a warm cup of coffee and a safe space to share can make all the difference. Join us for a casual coffee with friends gathering, where we can come together to support one another, share stories, and find comfort in community.
The fourth Friday of every month beginning Friday, April 25th, 10 am in the St. Thomas Gathering Space.
This gathering is intended to be a gentle, welcoming environment where you can express yourself freely or simply enjoy the companionship of others who understand the journey you're on.
Please feel free to bring a friend or loved one for support, if you'd like. We hope to see you there!
